Let’s be honest – few things in life are as comforting as a warm bowl of Mac and Cheese. Whether you're having a bad day, hosting a dinner, or just craving something creamy and cheesy, this dish never disappoints!

Today I’m sharing my go-to homemade mac and cheese recipe that’s super creamy, cheesy, and ready in less than 30 minutes. It’s perfect for both kids and adults, and once you try it, you’ll never go back to the boxed stuff again!


πŸ›’ Ingredients:

For 4 servings:

  • 250g (about 2 cups) elbow macaroni or any pasta of your choice

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups milk (whole milk preferred)

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: a pinch of paprika or mustard powder for extra flavor


🍳 Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta
    Boil water in a large pot with a pinch of salt.
    Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente.
    Drain and set aside.

  2. Make the Cheese Sauce
    In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    Add the flour and whisk for 1–2 minutes to create a roux.
    Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps.
    Cook for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. Add the Cheese
    Reduce the heat to low.
    Stir in the shredded cheese until fully melted and smooth.
    Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.

  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce
    Add the drained macaroni into the cheese sauce.
    Stir well to coat the pasta completely.

Transfer your mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle with more cheese or breadcrumbs, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
